During IVF, mature eggs are collected (retrieved) from ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. Then the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs (embryos) are transferred to the uterus. One full cycle of IVF takes about three weeks. Sometimes these steps are split into different parts and the process can take longer.
टेस्ट ट्यूब तकनीक में बच्चे की मां वही होती हैं, जो उसे जन्म देती हैं. इसमें पिता के स्पर्म और मां के एग को शरीर से बाहर निकाला जाता है. फिर इन्हें लैब में फर्टिलाइज किया जाता है. जब यह फर्टिलाइज हो जाता है, तो भ्रूण बनकर तैयार हो जाता है.
आईवीएफ़ (IVF) को हम इन विट्रो फर्टिलाइजेशन के नाम से भी जानते हैं। जो महिलाएं किसी कारणवश प्राकृतिक रूप गर्भधारण नहीं कर पाती हैं उन्हें IVF द्वारा गर्भधारण में सहायता की जाती है। आईवीएफ़ ट्रीटमेंट के दौरान लेब में कुछ नियंत्रित परिस्थितियों में महिला के एग्स और पुरुष के स्पर्म को मिलाया जाता है। जब संयोजन से भ्रूण बन जाता है तब उसे वापस महिला के गर्भाशय में रख दिया जाता है।
IVF की पूरी प्रक्रिया में लगभग 2 महीनों का समय लगता है। आई वी एफ़ बहुत सुरक्षित प्रक्रिया है तथा नयी एवं आधुनिक तकनीकों के उपयोग से इसकी सफलता का अनुपात पहले की अपेक्षा बहुत बढ़ गया है।
